Richard Hamilton is one of my favorite artists. It’s hard for most people to recognize his work because he was constantly reinventing his own style in a way that emphasized the effects of consumer culture (in the 1950s, in particular) on the public via television, films, ads, etc. He was clever and subversive and we artists owe him a great deal of respect.
